TLT 23’
This weekend we had our 9th annual TLT Conference in Pompano Beach at it was a great success!
We had mentors come from Canada, Nebraska, Long Island NY, Seattle WA. Students from all over the country. Speakers were so professional this year, God brings it all together like a beautifully diverse quilt.
I went to TLT when I was 16 and what I learned about myself was transformational. The knowledge I received from that week is something that would help guide me in my entrepreneurial endeavors and social life, so much so, that I have come back every year to serve. From a student to now on the board of Elev8Life has the media team director, God is doing amazing things through this nonprofit organization.
This year we are taking steps to expand and take this program nation wide. At TLT they teach about identity, purpose, and HOW to think not WHAT to think. There’s nothing else like it in the world. It’s all the stuff they don’t teach in school. This year instead of doing a week long camp we did it in 3 days. Our goal is to perfect a 3 day program so that others, that believe in this work, can bring it to their city. We would train them in the education and I will come film them all.
This years media team was the best yet. Lucca, Armani, Veronica, and Deya were professional and efficient. I took a step back and acted as director/editor and had my boys to do a majority of the filming. I usually struggle with delegating filming to other people, not trusting they can film it as well as I would, but these guys killed it! It was a big step to trust in my team, and gave me a great opportunity to really prepare with proper training and preproduction. The videos made people cry with joy and I got 3 new client from people in the crowd. Good time.
I get the opportunity to witness and capture young adults come in one way, and leave another way. Coming in anxiety riddled, depressed, don’t believe in themselves and don’t know what they want to do with their lives; transformed to young adults with new friends on a path upwards! Given all the tools to become a serving leader. I wont get into specific details about particular students, but two little girls who’s parents had no idea what to do to help them came out renewed and wanting to choose a new path! Not one of depression, cutting and isolation, but one of wanting to be joyful, open and serving. Completely changed.
“I went in a follower and came out a leader” - I over heard from a student
This is why I do this work. It truly is life transformational. This isn’t just a one time 3 day event. It’s a launch to a year-long mentorship program. Our mentors will continue to call their students once a month to check in and remind them of the work they did this past summer. Help guide them in anyway they need.
Out of every gig I have all year this one is the most fun and impactful. I’m passionate about TLT, because it’s changing life’s for the better. Nothing brings me more joy than from hearing from parents of our students saying how incredibly they are doing as leaders in their friend groups and jobs.
The world NEEDS good serving leaders. Not leaders hungry for power and money, ones who have compassion and a heart for people. Ones with a mindset that there’s enough for everybody, not a starving mindset. Leaders who imitate Jesus Christ. TLT trains trainers and leads leaders.
For this reason, I will be with Elev8Life until it closes it doors, then I will pry it back open myself. I love ELEV8LIFE AND TLT!! Check out our podcast, I get the honor of hosting. #TLTMovementpodcast
