I’m making a documentary movie!
This March I’m going to Israel to film a movie about Israel’s relevance to Christian Americans. Before this year I knew absolutely nothing about Israel’s nation historically or their conflict with Palestine. What even is Palestine? I felt like as a modern day Christian in America we, as the church, should be talking about this topic due to the significance of Israel in the Bible.
Obviously the promise land for born again Christian’s is Christ likeness in our minds not so much the physical land, but as I look more into it, the land is important too. I hear many modern Christians posting on social media #freepalestine. I see on the news there are riots in the US over this conflict, the church seems to be split or ignoring it. It wasn’t until I looked into the long and complex history of this land did I begin to understand why there is confusion. As I interview professionals and research Israel, the story becomes increasing more interesting. Israel is the spiritual center of the world, having more significant sights for Christians, Jews, and Muslims (the top 3 religions in the world) than any place else on the planet.
Does our God support Israel? Who is Israel? What is Israel’s role in the end times? Is Israel still the promise land? Why should a modern day Christian care about Israel? Should we support Palestine and if not, why? These are just a few of the questions I want to investigate and bring to light. I feel like the deeper I go down the rabbit hole I get more confused, so I’m on a mission to clear the fog and make a one stop shop movie that examines it all to find the truth. Being an outsider not apart of Judaism or being Muslim, I’m not emotionally attached to the land itself. I just simply want to know what Jesus, our Lord, thinks about it all.
I am currently in preproduction, interviewing everybody I can who knows anything about Israel piecing this puzzle together. Reading books and watching videos. I really believe a majority of the film will be conceptualized and shot in Israel while I’m there in March. I have a tour planned to go see all the biblical significant sights. I want to go into it educated yet just ignorant enough to go in with little bias as possible. I expected this doc to be around 30-45 min but as I research more and talk with people this very well may be a full film. My first ever. I’m very excited. I know this is a God plan and mission and I look forward to the doors it will unlock. I pray somebody at Angel films or somebody in the Christian film making community will see it and be impressed enough to want to work with me. Ideally I work on set for the chosen or another high quality Christian film for Pureflix. I know with all my being this is why I am here on this earth is to spread the good news through video.
