Book: week 2 update
Still writing my book, writing this blog post to keep myself accountable to continuing writing at least one page a day. This week I watched a lot of videos and read articles from successful writers on tips, what to avoid, how to write to keep audience attention, develop characters, ECT.
After all this research this is my TOP take away:
Show not tell. Don’t tell the reader what to think or feel, but describe it in a way that allows them to feel it themselves. Give them 2+2 NOT 4. Make the reader work for it.
Ideas now, fancy words later. After all my research I felt myself overthinking, but I realized as I’m writing the first draft of the manuscript I just need to get the story and ideas down. Every idea possible then LATER, as I’m editing, decide word choice, flow of story, and exact details.
Learning a lot about writing a story, which I think will translate to movies in the future. This is still very fun. Each time I tell somebody the plot it thickens and gets more interesting. The more I think about it the more excited I get. I think I really got something here.
I met my goal. God bless
